Welding machine is an important power tool we are using in construction, manufacturing and maintenance sites.

The machine we are going to use in the site may newly purchased or it is transferred to this site from another site.(eg: May be from another project or manufacturing unit). Whether it is new or old irrespective of this we have to conduct daily inspection for the machine.

There are some important points we need to check on daily basis before using the welding machines.

1. Check the ON/OFF Switch
Check whether the switch is provided or not,Check is there any damage in the switch, whether it is working properly (It is connecting and disconnecting the power supply during operation,not bypassed),On off symbol on the switch is visible and correct with respect to the operation.

2. Check Regulator power Indicator and Ampere display.
Check whether the regulator, Ampere display and Power Indicators are provided.
Regulator is working properly and no damages in the knob. It is not stuck or not fraught rotation. Min and Maximum are clearly marked and visible in the regulator. 



Check Regulator point selector is identifiable.(Marked clearly or designed to easily identify)


Ampere display is not damaged and showing readings clearly. Check whether the reading is raising while raising the regulator. No irregularities in the Ampere display reading.

Check whether the power indicator LED working properly, no damages in it and it is clearly visible. 

3. Check welding cables are connected to the machine using lugs.


4. Check for any insulation damages in the welding cables.

5. Check for any insulation damages in the power cable.

6. Check the power cable plug top and connection to the machine.

7.Check the welding holder and it's spring action.

8.Check the earth holder and it's spring action.

9. Check the earthing and it's connections.

10. Check welding machines body casing and any internal circuit part exposed.

11. Check whether the power supply rooted through 30mA RCCB with a capacity rating of more than welding machine.


12. Check the welding machine trolley and it's wheel.

14. Check Welder competency and use of PPEs

15. Hot work permit and fire precautions.
